This is the largest Natural Harbour in South Africa.  Set on the North side of a massive bay, the town of Saldanha is a holiday hot spot for water sports lovers to sail and water ski all summer. The big bay is a favoured venue for regattas and sailors to test their skills and provides a scenic backdrop to the town.

The specialty in this area is definitely seafood and please make a stop at some of the many restaurants visit the Sea Harvest factory shop in the harbour or buy fish at the local fishmongers in town. You will then be able to make your own delectable supper.

Saldanha Bay is a working town, with thriving businesses, however, it does not intrude on tourism at all, but rather enhances it. Guests come to relax and unwind and enjoy the white stretch of beach past Blue Bay.

Most prominent of the natural attractions is Adam and Eve,  the two massive vertical rocks on the mountainside overlooking Saldanha. This is also a viewpoint for panoramic vistas of the area.

This town is also hosts  to the naval training base and the South African Military Academy, while the popular SAS Saldanha Nature Reserve is a floral wonderland of spring flowers.

You might be lucky and see some Southern right whales visiting the safe waters near the nature reserve.

When visiting Hoedjieskoppie Nature Reserve on a hill in the middle of town, make sure to take water along, it has beautiful views from the traditional fishermen’s cottages.
